VISION & MISSION
The volume of information is growing, and many organisations experience the world as becoming increasingly complex. More decisions must be made, and more opportunities and risks must be considered in planning and development. This means that there is a need for clarifying research and reduction of complexity, enabling more people to make the best possible decisions.
The VISION of the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies is to reduce complexity and advise decision-makers about the future, enabling them to make the best possible decisions in the present.
Implicit in this vision is the understanding that the future to a certain degree can be explained by a range of relatively certain societal driving forces (megatrends) that take us from the past over the present, and into the future. All our work also rests on the idea that the future is not singular or predetermined, and that a range of uncertainties give shape to different possible futures. Therefore we work with scenarios founded in the philosophy that the future can and must be influenced on an informed basis. We also believe that our work must be non-normative and independent of commercial, religious, and political interests.
The Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies is a member-based, self-governing, independent institute that works to create knowledge about the future for the benefit of companies and organisations. To this end, the Institute contributes to identify and develop solutions to the challenges of the future for the betterment of our society.
The MISSION of the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies is to enable our member companies, customers, and collaborative partners to create resilient products, services, and results for the benefit of their organisation, business, or purpose.
