From our position as a world-leader in futures studies and foresight, the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies has designed a targeted Megatrends Masterclass, led by top experts in the field.
The futurist John Naisbitt once said that trends, like horses, are easier to ride in the direction they are already going. This is certainly true when it comes to megatrends – the high-level drivers of change shaping our world today and in the future. While the long-term future cannot be predicted, not all aspects of the future are equally unpredictable. Megatrends stand out as the only relative certainty we have. We can anticipate them, but we can do little to affect them.
This Megatrends Masterclass is the perfect way to deepen your understanding of the forces shaping our world and develop a strategic mindset for the future. It is a perfect choice for people working with futures & foresight, executive leadership, strategy advisory, business development, policy-making, risk management, or if you are simply interested in staying ahead of the curve.
This masterclass will provide you with
The forces that shape the future are all interconnected and interdependent, with different time horizons and levels of impact, making foresight and strategic planning difficult. This is why megatrend analysis is an essential part of the futurist’s toolbox and sits at the core of most strategic foresight work.
We will focus on upskilling participants with a structured process for understanding the dynamics of change we call global megatrends and mapping potential derived implications and consequences on society and organisations alike. Our facilitators bring their knowledge and expertise from working daily with strategic foresight and futures-oriented issues.
The core modules covered in this masterclass are:
Introduction to megatrends: A comprehensive introduction to CIFS' global megatrends. We will also work around the concept and touch upon some of the problems people and organisations face when working with megatrends or trends in general.
Using megatrends as a tool: Megatrends analysis – and trend analysis more broadly – is incredibly versatile and can create a starting point for long-term strategic analysis and more short-term analysis alike. We will look at different applications of megatrend analysis.
Futures Wheel for megatrend analysis – Using the Futures Wheel as a powerful tool to explore the implications of megatrends and look for second-order and third-order etc. effects on businesses and organizations.
The masterclass is facilitated live-online in two sessions (with 3,5 hours per live session).
The sessions consist of a mixture of presentation and interactive exercises. There will be plenty opportunity for involvement with a strong focus on contextualising and discussing what we have learned.
