Introduction

Sofie Hvitved is a Futurist and Senior Advisor at the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies, where she is also Head of Media. Her work is centered on the intersection of media and technology, focusing on emerging innovations like AI and the convergence of physical and virtual realities, and their potential impact on society, businesses, and our everyday lives. She is deeply involved in strategy development and innovation projects, exploring how the future media landscape will unfold. Currently, she is researching the future of liquid content and the changing dynamics of an AI-mediated information ecosystem.

As an experienced keynote speaker, moderator, and host, Sofie has shared her insights at prominent events such as SXSW, TechBBQ, Global Media Congress, Cannes Next, The Summit, World News Media Congress, ØreDev and Media Innovation Xchange, Prompt:UX, among others.

With a strategic background in the media industry, she previously worked at DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation) as a Project Lead for New Media Days. Beyond her role as a futurist, she contributes as a member of the Danish Media Board under the Ministry of Culture and serves on the Advisory Board for Future Media Hubs.

Sofie has also been a jury member for several prestigious awards, including the INMA Global Media Awards 2022, NonA | Virtual – Videogame Architecture 2022, and the CPH:DOX Interactive Award 2024.

Sofie has travelled extensively, from the Philippines to Argentina, which has provided her with a unique and global cultural understanding. From 2008 till 2019, she has lived and worked various places in the world (Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Andalucia), and she now resides in Copenhagen with her husband and two kids. Oh yeah, and she’s a former Danish Champion in table football (Bonzini).
