Futures Seminar #7: From Inconvenient Truth to Empowering Insights
October 12, 2022
16:00-17:00
Biografteatret, Nationalmuseet, Ny Vestergade 10, 1471 København K

As part of the CIFS Futures Seminar series, we are excited to announce that we have invited global sustainability expert and advocate Dr. Mathis Wackernagel for a keynote and discussion on how to make a sustainable futures relevant to current decisions of cities, companies, and countries.

Mathis will explore the benefits of questioning common premises about climate change, including: are we facing an “inconvenient truth”? Is there a contradiction between business necessities and ecological constraints? Is it realistic to assume that overshoot will ever end? Do we need to govern the global commons?

As a thought leader, he has been recognized for his ability to “translate the complexity of humanity's impact on the environment and natural resources into a more understandable and actionable form.”

About Dr. Wackernagel

Mathis Wackernagel, Ph.D., is a founder and Executive Director of Global Footprint Network, a charitable research organization with headquarters in California. This organization supports the creation of a sustainable economy by advancing the policy-utility of the Ecological Footprint. The goal is to make ecological limits central to decision-making everywhere. Together with Professor William Rees, he created the “Ecological Footprint” concept, now a widely used sustainability measure.

Join the Futures Seminar for a unique chance to get empowering insights that will challenge your notion of how to think about climate change and may reveal why climate change and resource constraints may be far more pertinent to your current decisions than you have assumed.

CIFS’ Director Carsten Beck will moderate a live Q&A and conversation with Mathis Wackernagel on stage. The seminar will be followed by networking over a glass of sparkling wine.

We hope to see you there!

*Please note that this is an exclusive physical event in Copenhagen. For those unable to join, we will provide highlights and insights from the event, so stay tuned.
