This year, the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies is partnering with TechBBQ, Scandinavia’s largest gathering for tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs.

The aim is to combine tech and ‘hygge’ by creating a space in which the latest trends in tech can be discussed, and tech enthusiasts can get together in a cosy atmosphere – with a BBQ!

A series of talks and events will be held over the two days – from pioneers and thinkers in the world of tech – including CIFS’ very own media and tech futurist, Sofie Hvitved.

Sofie is an expert in the future of media, technology, and everything in between, with a particular interest in the Metaverse as well as the ever-changing nature of how we use media and tech and the dynamic relationship between the two. She will be taking part in talks surrounding this year’s TechBBQ theme 'Discovery: An Uncharted World Emerges' – uncovering how tech and media may evolve in the near and distant future.

Under the overarching theme of 'Discovery', TechBBQ's incredible program takes place across four stages with four different themes:

• One World: This theme explores our responsibility in shaping our one world. There’s no “Planet B”, so what is the current and future state of our “Planet A”?
• Business of Building: This theme looks at the building blocks of startup life and explores challenges, solutions, and opportunities.
• Techno Sapiens: How do we shape, and in turn, how are we shaped by technology? This theme explores movements and changes, and questions the impact this has on how we navigate our experiences.
• Movers and Shakers: This theme looks at the pioneers of our age, who are provoking the status quo, and asking us all to think a little differently.
